The Bottom Line here is......They're squatting
on city property, paying us no rent, and we get to build them a new home
eslewhere in Riverwalk, so Buddy can build some condos on the property
they are now.....
But why not build the Chamber a new home near
City Hall?
Same goes for the Historical Trust.....
Halifax Sports Fishing Club, as far as I'm
concerned, can hold their meetings out on the fishing pier.
Subject: RE: Halifax Sport Fishing Club-property/lease/relocation
Craig: the
Halifax Sports Fishing Club is located inside the building that houses the
Port Orange/South Daytona Chamber of Commerce. They do not own any land
in Town Center. The Port Orange Historical Trust is located in a small
building on the same parcel of land where the Chamber of Commerce is
located.

Fishing Club-property/lease/relocation
Ken,
Since this latest
brush-up concerning Riverwalk, I've been looking thru the Property Tax
Appraisers website, and I can't find a parcel of land that is owned by
the
Halifax Sport Fishing Club, which should be
in the Town Center CRA.
Is it owned by the
City? And if so, does the City receive any Rent from that organization?
The City of Port Orange will retain
ownership of 12 out of the 35 total acres, including all of the most
valuable river frontage in Port Orange Riverwalk. Numerous public
amenities are incorporated into the project, including six acres along
the waterfront with an impressive public boardwalk that stretches the
entire length of the project, and a world-class park located on the
point currently occupied by Sweetwater’s Restaurant.
Other public facilities will include a
City-owned conference center and event plaza, as well as a new home for
the Port Orange South Daytona Chamber of Commerce, Port Orange Historic
Trust, ARTHAUS,
and Halifax Sport Fishing Club. "
What's this all about?
Are we going to be
spending CRA funds to relocate the Halifax
Sport Fishing Club?
And if so, why?
I hope for Port
Orange's sake, this is not another "Anglers Club" type situation, like
the City of New Smyrna Beach has been going thru?
ref.
"Halifax Sport Fishing Club, established in August 1967, is a
"registered not-for-profit organization".
Our headquarters overlook the intra-coastal waterway in Port Orange,
FL."
Anglers Club White
Paper
by Harvey T.R. Mitchell on behalf of the Concerned NSB Residents and
Taxpayers, dated January 2, 2009.
Legal Opinion of
Shutts & Bowen, LLP,
dated July 10, 2009, concluding the lease between the City of New Smyrna
Beach and the Anglers Club void as the State of Florida had not granted
the City the authority to enter into such a lease at that time.

HERE'S JUST A PARTIAL LIST OF THE PROPERTIES THE

Port Orange has big plans for adult center
Daytona Beach News-Journal
By KELLY CUCULIANSKY PORT ORANGE -- The city's longtime hub for
everything from parties and painting to woodcarving and card games is
getting a makeover ...
---------------------------
Consolidating our Cities FD's with the
County, or in a regional consolidation makes a lot of sense.
Here we go again. First it was
Mop head Feeney w/ his condo down in Titusville, which the IRS
caught him not paying his earning on the Property, Now we are
paying double taxation when we pay taxes to the city for the
city hall and the local crooks charge the congressmen for use of
office space in our already paid for building. He pays the rent
from out income taxes which creates double taxation. I believe
if you read the constitution of the united states, you will find
Double taxation is illegal. But on the other hand these crooks
who are suppose to represent us could have instituted an
amendment to that so they can double tax us on any property.
Let's face it this is what they call fighting City
haaaaaaaaaaaaall. This is same as In big companies all bids have
to open with the presents of at least servable manager to keep
everyone straight. After working for the Telephone company &
managing a 21 million Dollar budget you'd be surprise the quiet
offers you receive in money or dinners ,you name it, that is
offered to you for helping their exception in their Bid. I say
NO relationship between a contractor & city officials. Period.
-------- Response from POI Hank
Thank you Al, for your thoughts.
You are connecting the dots, and draw a picture that we are
seeing all too
often in governmental agencies. I had sent an e mail to
the city council members of Port Orange, about a month ago, and
suggested to them that we in Port Orange are
connecting the dots, and are getting perhaps suspicious, if not
skeptical. I made mention of the professions some who are
on the city council and have been on the planning
commission, which one might wonder interfere
with doing what is right for the tax payers of Port Orange.
As a result of that e mail,
Councilman Steindoerfer at at city council meeting stated, that
I can ask all the questions I want but he is not going to answer
them. And the Mayor said that he had some comments for me,
but couldn't express them (in public?).
So, now we have another dot, or
more dots to connect
for the total picture. I am at this time preparing the
video
excerpts of this CRA meeting, and hope to have the video posted
tonight. There will be at least 3 parts.
Thank you Al, for your thoughts.
I am thinking the same way. --- hank
